Earlの手下がRagnarの留守宅にやって来て、Ragnarはどこだと問い詰める
Fishingに行ってると言い張るLagertha

帰りの船内でも聖書を読んでいるAthelstanに
Ragnarが自己紹介？
What is your name? I’m Ragnar Lothbrok
見つめ合う2人
A: Why did you spare my life?
R: I don’t know yet

無事に帰り着いたRagnar一行は人々の歓迎受けるけど、
Earlがお呼び。
修道院で取ってきたお宝は全部自分のものだと主張するEarl
You understand that all this belongs to me, by right.
一つだけお前の物にしていいと言われ
Each one of you can take one thing from this haul
Athelstanを選ぶRagnar
I will take the priest for my slave.

Earlにお宝をとられて怒るRollo
Why did you give everything away so easily?
しかし、こっそりお宝くすねてた
Ragnarも怒ってるけどこれは始まりに過ぎないと
He was looking for an excuse to kill us.
Believe me, this is not the end, it’s just the beginning

ところでお宝のガチャガチャいう音が安っぽい

自宅にAthelstanを連れて帰るRagnar
どうしてそんな髪型なの？なんでそんな服着てるの？
と興味を示す子供達

RagnarとLagerthaがAthelstanを誘いにやって来る
Ragnar: We want to ask you something
Lagertha: Come and join us, Priest
Ragnar: Come on! Don’t you want to? You’ll enjoy it.
Athelstan: I’m a monk. I have taken vows of celibacy.

[take a vow of: の誓いを立てる][celibacy: 独身、禁欲]
I cannot touch a woman. I never have.
それでも諦めずに誘う2人
R: Wouldn’t you like to?
A: It would be a sin
R: Who would know?
A: God would know
L: What if he looked the other way?
聖書の言葉をブツブツ唱え始める
R: Go to sleep then… with your god

YouTubeのコメント欄にはRagnarが試したんじゃないかという意見があるけど
この件は単に一緒にやりたかっただけの気がする

少年に穴を掘らせているEarl
Ragnarから取り上げたお宝を埋めている
またも安っぽいガチャガチャ音
Valhallaのために埋めてるらしい
Why are you burying all this treasure?
Odin promises that a man will have the use of everything he has hoarded up after he is dead and wakes up again in Valhalla

[hoard :溜め込む、蓄え、hoard up:蓄える]
お宝の番人として少年を始末して一緒に埋める
But the hoard needs protection, somebody to look after it

Ragnarが奴隷のはずのAthelstanにどんどん飲ませてる
待遇いいね
We don’t like those in our house to go hungry or thirsty
イングランドのことをいろいろ聞出す
I am very curious about England
Why does you God need silver and gold?
修道院にみんなが金銀を寄付するらしい（だからお宝が豊富なんだね）
Christian people give away their riches to the churches and monasteries in order to save their souls.
イングランドの言葉も教えろというRagnar
I want to learn some of your language
Will you teach me, priest?
短絡的思考の持ち主に描かれてるRolloと対照的に、Ragnarがいかに先読みしてて頭が回るかよく分かる。

RagnarはEarlに2回目の西行きの許可を取りに行く
まずは新しい奴隷はどうだ？と聞くEarl
How do you find your new slave?
I find him very useful, as you will discover.
[How do you find…? ]使える表現かも
I want to sail west again.
Athelstanから聞き出したから、もっとお宝があるのは確実だと
I have spoken at great lengths with my Christian slave.
He has informed me of a large town, near to the temple that we raided before.
And in this town there are other temples and surely other riches.
Ragnarを探らせる心算で、側近を連れてく条件つきで許可するEarl
I sanction this raid on one condition. A warrior I trust goes with you.
[sanction: 許可する、許可、是認]

帰り道、Athelstanのロープを切って、どこへでも行けと言うRagnar
Run away if you want
イングランドのこと聞き出したから用無し？Ragnarのことだから、逃げない（逃げようがない）のを承知で試してる？
でもRagnarについて行くAthelstan。
いきなり放り出されてもね、船もないしさ

今度の西行きにはLagerthaも誘う
I want you to come with me
RagnarはAthelstanに子供らと畑を任せるって（Rolloは信用されなかったのに）
I will leave him with a key
彼はもう奴隷じゃないから
I don’t regard him as a slave

こんどの航海はサクッと終わりイングランドに付くと
イングランドの兵士の一団がやって来る
一応友好的にRagnarたちを迎えて攻撃しないのに、
怪しいといって
兵士たちを殺すバーバリアンなRagnar一行。

ここでエピソード3は終了

ドラマ上では、ヴァイキングたちも英語なのに
イングランドに着くと急に違う言葉になって（デンマーク語？スウェーデン語？）、イングランド側とは言葉が通じない設定になるのがおかしい！無理がある

でも途中でなし崩し的に全員英語になってるんだよね
