イングランドの集落へ乗り込もうと道を進めるRagnar一行。

集落を見晴らす丘に着いて、すぐに襲おうとするRolloに対して、
明日やるといって休み始めるRagnar。
Let’s attack straight away.
No. We attack tomorrow why wait?
We have only a few men.
Then surprise is our biggest advantage.
今日は土曜日だからなおさら明日がいいと言う

Then we attack tomorrow.

翌朝、Ragnarはすぐに襲いに行こうとする皆を抑えて、教会の鐘が鳴り出すのを待って出陣。日曜日に住人はほとんど教会に集まってるから、そこを襲えば一度に片付くってわけね。

きっとAthelstanから聞いてたんだね。

民家に何かないかと漁りに行くうちに
現地の女を強姦しようとしたクヌート（首長のスパイ）をやめさせようとして、自分も襲われそうになったLagerthaが彼を刺し殺す。

沖に船を泊めてある浜辺では、留守番役のヴァイキングを殺してRagnar一行を待ち構えるイングランドの一団。両者の戦闘が始まりイングランド軍を蹴散らす。

犠牲になった仲間を葬る
ヴァルハラに行けるんだから俺たちより幸せだ

お留守番のAthelstanと子供達。

BjornがRagnarを迎えに行くと言い、ダメと言うAthelstan
I want to go to Kattegat. I want to see my father return soon.
I cannot allow you to go on your own to Kattegat. Your father would never tolerate such a thing.
Ragnarが無事に帰るよう生贄を捧げたいと言うBjorn
I want to make a sacrifice to Thor, for my father’s safe return.
What will you sacrifice?
You!
憎たらしいガキ！ってことで
静かにムカついたAthelstanは、
1人聖書を取り出し、神に語りかける
Tell me, is it your will that I am here with these heathens?
[heathen: 異教徒、野蛮人]
For the first time in my life, I am angry with you.
For the first time I feel lonely.

語りかけしてる間に気が変わったらしく、
子供らと一緒にカテガットに行こうという

帰還したRagnar一行を村人達が歓迎。
How was your voyage?
Successful I hope, for all our sakes.
腹心のクヌートの姿が見えないことを問い詰めるEarl
But I don’t see my friend, Knut, where is he?
I killed him. Because he tried to rape my wife.
妻をレイプしようとしたから俺が殺したと言ってるのに
都合のいい言い訳だと言ってEarlはRagnarを捕らえる。
I find it too convenient that you would make an excuse to kill my friend…
Arrest him!

実際殺したのはLagerthaだけど、悪いのはクヌートの方なのに、
要は実績を上げてるRagnarが邪魔なわけだ

EarlはこっそりRolloを呼び出して、
Ragnarに不満を抱いている所を突いてくる
弟の方が断然目立ってるけどどうなん？
Does he treat you equally when you sail with him?

そして、自分の娘を意味ありげに紹介する。

そろそろ結婚相手を探さないとな〜

人々を集めて、Ragnarの形ばかりの裁判が開かれる
Ragnarが何を言おうと、嘘つきだといい、死刑にするつもり
Lagerthaが自分が殺したと言っても、やったのはRagnarだと言い張るEarl。お前見てないだろ。
目撃者がいる、と言ってRolloが前に出される。
We have a witness to the killing.
本当はRolloだって見てないのにさ。
ここで、RolloがRagnarを裏切ってEarl有利に発言しそうな雰囲気出しといて、
Ragnarの無実を証言。

Ragnarの無実を祝って仲間で宴会。
Ragnar: It seems I owe you an eternal debt

「えらい借りができたようだな」
[owe a debt: 借り（借金、恩）がある、I owe youとも]
Rollo: I know. I look forward to collecting it.

「ああ。返してもらうのを待ってるぞ。」
[collect a debt: 借金を回収する]

お礼を言いに来たLagerthaに
ヤツのためじゃない、お前のためだというRollo
I want to say thank you.
I didn’t do it for him. I did it for you, shield-maiden.
I don’t want to believe that.

宴会中に襲われるRagnarと仲間達。
賊の正体は特に明かされないけどEarlの差し金なのは間違いない。

翌日、丘の上で1人じっと考えるRagnar
それを見るAthelstan
I know what he’s doing. He’s preparing himself.
腹を決めてるところだね
